A note from the founder
Emily's Smile Boxes was founded in 2008 by Emily Lites after her little brother suffered a massive bilateral stroke. Due to the severity of his illness her brother Jude spent many days in the hospital. At only ten years old Emily found the hospitals to be boring and sad places and she felt she needed to reach out and help others in her position. One night she asked her mother if she could start filling boxes full of toys and activities for children and their siblings in pediatric hospitals. She also asked if she could ship the boxes to children recovering at home. Thus Emily's Smile Boxes was born! Now tens of thousands of boxes later and with more than $100,000 raised for her cause Emily is still going strong! Emily holds functions throughout the year so volunteers can help put together hundreds of boxes. Those events are normally laced with treats and fun projects for all those that participate. Be sure to check out her facebook page for more information regading upcoming events. www.facebook.com/emilyssmileboxesnonproft
